titleOfInvention | Culture bags |
abstract | A culture bag for storing cultured biological materials in a controlled atmosphere is provided which includes an enclosure (17) at least a portion of which is formed by a film of transparent flexible plastic material (12) which is largely oxygen impermeable and which strongly attenuates light below a predetermined wavelength for preventing damage to biological materials stored within the enclosure. The enclosure has an open end (19) for receiving the culture, normally in a culture dish. Sealing means (21) seal the enclosure after it has been filled with a desired gas to create an air-tight sealed chamber within the enclosure. Means (23, 25, 27) are provided for humidifying the gas within the enclosure. Tissue culture vessels are also provided, such as culture dishes, flasks and multiwell plates formed of a transparent material and having a distortion free surface for allowing microscope inspection of biological materials stored therein, and which strongly attenuates light below a predetermined wavelength for preventing damage to such biological materials. |
