Dispersions obtained from lamellar silicates, a protective colloid, and an aqueous dispersion medium are suitable for incorporating lamellar silicates in water-dilutable coating compositions. The dispersions are obtained using poly(propylene oxide) as the protective colloid. The poly(propylene oxide) contains no hydrophobic end groups, has on average at least one hydroxyl group per molecule, and may, if necessary, contain up to 40% by weight of -CH2-CH2-O- units. |
