| abstract |
A lavage (10) for obtaining a fluid specimen from a body cavity, has an elongated, flexible, narrow first tube (12) insertable into a body cavity. A compressible bellows (22) contains a saline solution (18) communicating with the tube (12) for ejecting the solution (18) into the body cavity. A second tube (36) surrounds the first tube (12) and is insertable therewith into the body cavity to receive the solution expelled from the body. A third tube (24), attached to the first tube (12), communicates with the second tube (36) to pass the expelled solution thereto. A removable cap (30) on the third tube (24) carries the second tube (36) and serves as a stop member to limit insertion of the first (12) and second (36) tubes into the body cavity. |
