abstract | A process and an extractant for silver extraction from aqueous thiosulphate solutions by liquid-liquid extraction. According to the process an aqueous thiosulphate phase containing silver ions is brought into contact with an organic phase, insoluble in the aqueous phase, containing an organic diluent in which is dissolved at least one extractant which is chosen among primary amines with the formula NR2H2 and quaternary ammonium compounds with the formula (NR1R2R3R4)+Y- where R1 is methyl, R2 is an alkyl group or aryl group with 4-25 carbon atoms, R3 is an alkyl group with 1-25 carbon atoms, R4 is an alkyl group with 1-25 carbon atoms, Y- is an anion. The extractant is preferentially a quaternary ammonium compound. |
