abstract | Process for producing optically active bicyclo[3.3.0]octandione carboxylic esters of formula (I), where R1 and R2 jointly represent an oxygen atom or the residue -O-X-O- with X having the notation of a straight or branched-chain alkylene group with 1-7 C atoms or R1 and R2 individually represent the residue OR4 with R4 as a straight or branched-chain alkyl with 1-7 C atoms and R3 is a straight or branched-chain alkylene group with 1-10 C atoms, characterized in that a prochiral bicyclo[3.3.0]-octandione dicarboxylic acid diester of formula (II), where R1, R2 and R3 have the above notations, is enantio-selectively saponified and decarboxylized with enzymes. |
