A description is given of the manufacture by genetic engineering and the use of plasmids and bacterial strains containing the gene tfdA or a gene practically identical to the latter on a short DNA section which can be precisely characterized. The new plasmids and micro-organisms are suited for the production of 2,4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid)-monooxygenase and as initial products for the transmission, by genetic engineering, to various organisms of the 2,4-D-decomposing characteristic of this enzyme. |
