abstract Composition and method for induction of a neutralizing antibody against the viral causative agents of AIDS and ARC. The composition is a conjugate of a polyamide resin and a synthetic peptide, the amino acid sequence of the synthetic peptide being sufficiently homologous to the amino acid sequence of the gp 41 and gp 120 subunits of the gp 160 envelope glycoprotein of HTLV-III, LAV or ARV to produce an immunogenic response in an experimental animal and having a hydrophilic region therein. The composition is given with or without an adjuvant in an amount effective to induce an immunogenic response, thereby protecting the experimental animal from exposure to the HTLV-III, LAV and/or ARV causative agents of AIDS and/or ARC.
