A rubber composition for a tread of a low fuel consumption tire, which is prepared by compounding: 100 parts by weight of a rubber component comprising (A) 40 parts by weight or more of solution-polymerized SBR having a specific molecular structure and (B) 60 parts by weight or less of at least one of emulsion-polymerized SBR, natural rubber, synthetic polyisoprene rubber and high-cis content butadiene rubber, with (C) 5 to 25 parts by weight of process oil and (D) 40 to 70 parts by weight of carbon black. The composition has excellent wet skid resistance, rolling resistance, and skid resistance on the surface of road covered with ice or snow. |
