Method and apparatus for granulation and granulated product |
abstract |
Method and apparatus for formation of granules of larger size or mass from feed stock (50) of smaller particles comprising feeding meltable powdery material to be granulated, or non-meltable powdery material with a meltable binder to a rotating spreader (10a) at least a portion of which has been heated to a temperature above the melting point of the meltable component, wherein the rate of feeding, energy input to the spreader and rotational speed of the spreader are controlled so there is sufficient time for at least partial melting of the meltable component substantially solely by contact with the heated surface of the spreader, centrifugally spreading the material radially across the spreader to form a layer of liquid component (52) from the melted component, and dispersing droplet from the spreader into a coller atmosphere to form the granulated product (54). |
