There is a particular composition with anti-diarrhoeic activity comprising quantities sufficient to reduce diarrhoea consisting of a clay based on double silicate of aluminium and magnesium, which is thermally activated and finely pulverized, as a substance susceptible of absorbing pathogenic intestinal bacteria, of a sodium salt, of a potassium salt and of sugar. Appropriate sugars are glucose or dextrose. The composition may further contain a suspension agent. The composition may be conditioned in the form of a solid mixture to which water may be added before administration to the sick person. Before adding water for administering the composition, the latter preferably contains per litre from 2.5 to 15 g of the absorbent substance, from 10 to 30 g of glucose, from 60 to 120 mEg of sodium, from 10 to 50 mEg of bicarbonate and from 10 to 30 mEg of potassium. |
