abstract An insect bait containing an insect-controlling material in a gelatinized starch matrix. The bait is made by co-extruding starch with the insect-controlling material at temperature and pressure conditions sufficient to cook and gelatinize the starch, or alternatively by mixing pregelatinized starch with the insect-controlling material and water to form a gel. The bait is effective in controlling insects.
