abstract | New process for the production of derivatives of hydroxy-methylene diphosphonic acid from the corresponding carboxylic acid comprising: a) mixing said corresponding carboxylic acid with a P III reactant selected from the group comprised of phosphorus tri-halides, phosphorous acid and mixtures thereof, the reaction mixture being protected from moisture; characterized in that the molecular ratio between the P III reactant and said corresponding carboxylic acid is comprised between 13/12th and 18/12th and in that it further comprises the step: b) heating said reaction mixture to a temperature comprised between 80 and 110oC during a period of time comprised between 3 and 20 hours approximately. |
