abstract This agent has excellent antithrombotic properties and mechanical strength, and is prepared by pouring an aqueous solution containing at least 6 wt % polyvinyl alcohol having a saponification degree of at least 97 mol % and a viscosity-average polymerization degree of at least 1,800 and containing asparaginase for treating leucemia into an arbitrary shape of vessel or mold, cooling it to a temperature lower than -15oC to solidify and mold, partially dehydrating the resulting molding to a dehydration degree of 5 wt % or more without melting and then, if desired, dipping the molding into water. This process enables to incorporate L-asparaginase in a high-water-content gel having excellent antithrombotic properties and mechanical strength through simple procedures.
