In a process of breaking down blood hemoglobin into heme and globin, the blood cells, separated from the blood, are suspended in an acidic aqueous solution. The heme is precipitated using carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and the heme - CMC complex precipitated is separated from the globin solution. The heme - CMC complex obtained can be used as such as a raw material in the preparation of medicinal ferrous supplements, and the globin fraction can be used as an additive in fodder or food products. |
