titleOfInvention Bone marrow aspiration needle
abstract A needle (10) for performing bone marrow biopsies at the level of the sternum or the iliac bone of the body comprises a cannula (17), a cannula enclosure (20) supporting the cannula (17) and comprising a lower organ partially threaded (32), a stylet (34) comprising a stylet cap (40) supporting the stylet (34) and a threaded depth stop (16) for engagement with the cannula (17) so that the stylet (34 ) engages in the cannula (17) according to a predetermined relationship, the stylet cap (40) locking on the enclosure (20) of the cannula, and the threaded member (32) determining the penetration depth of the 'needle. The sternum needle is constructed either to be discarded after use or to be reused, depending on the material of the cannula enclosure and the stylus cap. The enclosure (20) of the cannula includes vertical fins (22, 24) extending outwardly from the enclosure engaged by the palm of a doctor's hand, a cannula clamp (58) having ends welded to the cannula and fixed in the enclosure of the cannula, and an elongated button (28) extending outwardly from the upper part of the enclosure (20) of the cannula to allow detent locking with the cap (40) of the stylus ensuring alignment of the stylet (34) on the cannula of the needle. One end (38) of the stylus (34) is folded and molded into the cap of the stylus which includes a spring detent locking groove (42) for locking with the button (28) of the enclosure (20) of the cannula. The stylet (34) is inserted into the cannula (12) and locks with a rotation around the upper part of the cannula. The needle (10) can be used with or without a depth stop.
