Method for extracting thyroid hormones or steroids from a whole human serum, and consisting in bringing into contact, at a pressure greater than 1 psi and with a pH of 9.0 to 12.0 (thyroid hormones) , or from 4.0 to 6.0 (steroid hormones) the serum with a composite sheet, which composite sheet comprises a matrix of self-binding fibers having interdispersed carbon particles in the fibers, so that more than 90% of the carbon particles have an average diameter of less than about 50 microns, and recover a whole human serum having substantially undetectable amounts of hormones. |
