titleOfInvention Methods of foam inhibition or depression
abstract Methods for inhibiting foam depression in an industrial environment. The present methods generally use certain nonionic surfactants having the structure: R1- (OC2H4) x- (OC3H6) y-OH or R1 is a hydrophobic part or a monovalent organic hydrophobic substance, preferably selected from the group consists of long chain or higher molecular weight primary or secondary alcohols, alkyl phenols, or mixtures thereof; x is the value of the average number of moles or units of ethylene oxide per molecule of the defoaming agent and has a value between 3 and 20, preferably 5 and 15; y is the average number of moles or units of propylene oxide per molecule of defoaming agent and has a value between 15 and 60, preferably 20 and 60. The figure illustrates the critical zones of the weight ratio hydrophobic substance / oxide d ethylene / propylene oxide.
