abstract Cellulose treatment agent obtained by using, as an emulsifying and dispersing agent, a reaction product between an aliphatic carboxylic acid or a mixture thereof containing at least 20% by weight of an aliphatic monohydroxycarboxylic acid having 9 to 32 carbon atoms and a polyalkylene polyamine, or a reaction product obtained by reacting the described reaction product with an epihalohydrin, and dispersing an alkyl ketene attenuator in water using emulsifying and dispersing agent. This cellulose treating agent stabilizes a cationic dispersion of the alkyl ketene attenuator, and makes it possible to make the fibers impermeable to water in an effective manner. It can further be used as a reactive sizing agent in papermaking.
