abstract The present invention addresses the problem of providing an optical layered body that can be used in a reflective circular polarization element and whereby little ghosting occurs when the optical layered body is used in a virtual reality display device, and electronic viewfinder, etc., a layered optical film provided with the reflective circular polarization element, an optical article provided with the optical layered body, and a virtual reality display device that includes the optical article. This optical layered body has two or more layered reflecting layers, the layered reflecting layers including one of each of: a reflecting layer A that includes at least one cholesteric liquid crystal layer formed using a first liquid crystal compound comprising an essentially rod-shaped liquid crystal compound, and does not include a cholesteric liquid crystal layer formed using a second liquid crystal compound comprising an essentially discoid liquid crystal compound; and a reflecting layer B that includes at least one cholesteric liquid crystal layer formed using a second liquid crystal compound comprising an essentially discoid liquid crystal compound, and does not include a cholesteric liquid crystal layer formed using a first liquid crystal compound comprising an essentially rod-shaped liquid crystal compound, and the optical layered body satisfying a prescribed condition.
