abstract The present invention is directed to a method for treating and/or preventing skin, mucosal and systemic conditions resulting from microbial overgrowth, imbalance or infections comprising administering a composition to a mammalian subject, wherein said composition comprises oil obtained from Nigella sativa seeds, and wherein said oil comprises thymoquinone at a concentration of at least 2.5% w/w and one or more free fatty acids (FFAs) at a concentration of 2.5% w/w or less. The present invention is also directed to dosage forms comprising the aforementioned composition.
