abstract An area on a sensor chip (700) has a coating that contains fiber bundles (622) including a phage and is bioengineered to interact with a target analyte. A quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) or surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensing circuit, which may be connected to or integrated into the sensor chip (700), measures effects that result from interaction of the coating with the target analyte. Spin coating or spray coating may produce a coating suitable for QCM or SAM sensing techniques.
