abstract The present invention relates to kits for use in the isothermal amplification of nucleic acids in a sample comprising a liquid transport medium for pathogens, the kit comprising: a chelating agent and a primer mix. The invention also relates to the use of agents able to improve nucleic acid amplification by isothermal techniques. The methods of the invention may be used in the detection of pathogens, including viruses such as a coronavirus. In addition, the invention relates to methods of isothermal amplification of nucleic acids, and to methods of detecting SARS-CoV-2 in vitro.
