Valvuloplasty treatment assembly and method using directed bubble energy |
abstract |
A catheter system (100) for treating a treatment site (106) within or adjacent to the heart valve (108) within a body (107) of a patient (109) includes an energy source (124), an energy guide (122A) and an energy director (104B). The energy source (124) generates energy. The energy guide (122A) includes a guide proximal end (122P) and a guide distal end (122D). The energy guide (122 A) is configured to receive energy from the energy source (124) and guide the energy from the guide proximal end (122P) toward the guide distal end (122D). The energy director (104B) includes a director wall (130) that defines a director interior (146), and a director distal end (104D) that is selectively positioned substantially adjacent to the treatment site (106). The guide distal end (122D) of the energy guide (122A) is positioned within the director interior (146). The director distal end (104D) is at least partially open in a direction toward the treatment site (106). |
