abstract The present invention relates to tolerance to theileriosis infection in cattle. In particular, the present invention relates to methods and kits for determining predisposition in bovine animals to tolerance to Theileria parasite infection, especially by identifying at least one genetic marker indicative of tolerance. The present invention also relates to methods of selective breeding of cattle to select for individuals with a predisposition to tolerance to Theileria infection. A subject animal is determined to have a predisposition to tolerance to theileriosis infection if the presence of at least one variant is identified in a tolerance region. The tolerance region is a 6 Mbp region of bovine chromosome 15, 15:45 Mbp - 51 Mbp, which comprises at least one allele associated with at least one linkage disequilibrium block.
