abstract In various embodiments of the present disclosure, a molecular electronics sensor comprising a CRISPR Cas enzyme/crRNA complex is described. The CRISPR Cas enzyme/crRNA molecular electronics sensor may be one of a plurality of such sensors configured in a sensor array on a CMOS chip. The sensor array chip is capable of detecting nucleic acid targets hybridizing with the crRNA and/or complexing with the CRISPR Cas enzyme in the individual sensor pixels, wherein molecular interactions and/or Cas enzyme activity are seen as perturbations in a measured electrical parameter of the sensor circuits, such as signals or a signature of signals in a current versus time trace.
