The invention relates to the identification of novel combinations of metabolites specific to neurodegenerative diseases, in particular Parkinson's disease (PD), for use as biomarkers in the early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, in particular Parkinson's disease at the prodromal stage. The combination includes at least the following six metabolites: acetoacetate; betaine; beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB); creatine; pyruvate; and valine. |
