abstract The present disclosure relates to methods of inhibiting and/or reducing the severity of a bacterial infection comprising the administration of Platelet Factor 4 (PF4). The bacterial infection can be caused by Gram-negative or Gram-positive bacteria. The bacterial infection can also have progressed to sepsis or peritonitis. In particular implementations, a method of inhibiting and/or reducing the severity of a Staphylococcus aureus infection is described, including a MRSA infection.
