abstract The present invention relates to integration of molecular testing methodologies onto point of care (POC) diagnostic devices and systems and methods of molecular testing based on the same. More particularly it relates to microfluidic test cassettes or chips that are received within a POC diagnostic device and which are able to directly test biological samples that have had no or minimal processing to remove PCR inhibitor. The invention allows on-cassette/on- chip processing within the size confines of the cassette/chip by utilising the same heating zone for multiple processing steps.
