abstract Provided is a light emitting device having excellent color rendering properties and a specific melanopic ratio. The light emitting device has a light emitting element, and a fluorescent member including a fluorescent body, and satisfies any one of the following conditions: condition (A) in which the correlation color temperature of light emission of the light emitting device falls within the range of 4,500 K to 7,500 K, the content of a first fluorescent body falls within the range of 29 mass% to 90 mass%, and a melanopic ratio falls within the range of 1.0 to 1.4; condition (B) in which the correlation color temperature of light emission of the light emitting device falls within the range of 2,500 K to 4,500 K (exclusive of 4,500 K), the content of the fluorescent body falls within the range of 25 mass% to 90 mass%, and a melanopic ratio falls within the range of 0.7 to 1.1; and condition (C) in which the correlation color temperature of light emission of the light emitting device falls within the range of 2,500 K to 3,000 K, the content of the fluorescent body falls within the range of 20 mass% to 90 mass%, and a melanopic ratio falls within the range of 0.48 to 1.10.
