A nonaqueous secondary battery which is provided with: a positive electrode; a negative electrode; an insulating layer that is a single layer having one surface in contact with the positive electrode and having the other surface in contact with the negative electrode; and an electrolyte solution. With respect to this nonaqueous secondary battery, (1) the insulating layer contains a polyvinylidene fluoride resin and inorganic particles; the weight average molecular weight of the polyvinylidene fluoride resin contained in the insulating layer is from 900,000 to 1,500,000; and the mass proportion of the inorganic particles in the insulating layer is not less than 50% by mass but less than 90% by mass, (2) the insulating layer contains a resin and inorganic particles; the thickness of the insulating layer is from 5 μm to 30 μm; and the inorganic particles contain metal sulfate particles, or (3) the insulating layer contains inorganic particles and a polyvinylidene fluoride resin that contains, as polymerization components, vinylidene fluoride and a monomer that is represented by general formula (1). |
