The present invention relates to an in vitro method of classifying a subject suspected to suffer from an acute event comprising the steps of determining neopterin concentration in a biological sample obtained from said subject; comparing said concentration with a predetermined reference neopterin concentration, and assigning the subject to a risk group based on the comparison of the neopterin concentration with the predetermined reference neopterin concentration. |
