titleOfInvention Endotracheal device for mechanical ventilation of a patient
abstract Disclosed is an endotracheal device for the mechanical ventilation of a patient (3), which comprises a ventilation tube (10) and a barrier (13), wherein the ventilation tube (10) includes: a distal part, with a distal end (11), intended to be inserted into an airway of the patient (3); and a proximal part, with a proximal end (12), intended to be connected to a ventilation machine. The barrier (13) is made of solid viscoelastic material, covers the distal area of the ventilation tube (10) and is configured to occupy, when inserted, the subglottic region (14), the glottic region (15) and the supraglottic region (16) of the larynx (5) of the patient (3), for which reason the barrier (13) has a variable cross section along the length thereof. The device provides greater safety and lower incidence of complications in the mechanical ventilation of patients (3).
