abstract The present invention relates to a nutritional composition for feeding dogs or cats, comprising an alternative protein composition to animal protein, consisting of the biomass from an organism genetically modified to express fibrillar proteins of the animal muscle, associated with agro-industrial waste as other nutritional sources, and to the method for obtaining this composition. The method comprises the steps of: (a) creating a strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae or Pichia pastoris genetically modified to heterologously express fibrillar proteins of the animal muscle; cultivating the mutated biomass to obtain the microbial biomass expressing such proteins in the reaction medium, and obtaining the protein concentrate containing the biomass and expressed proteins; and (b) formulation with other nutritional compounds essential for dogs and cats, originating from agro-industrial waste, and sending to steps for post-processing of the product.
