abstract | The present application relates to an analytical method that includes providing a sample potentially containing a chiral analyte that can exist in stereoisomeric forms, providing certain probes; and providing an indicator. The sample is contacted with an excess of the probe under conditions to permit irreversible covalent binding of the probe to the analyte, if present in the sample. The sample is contacted with the indicator under conditions to permit covalent binding of the indicator to any excess probe that is not bound to the analyte. Based on any binding that occurs between the analyte and probe, the absolute configuration of the analyte in the sample and/or the enantiomeric composition of the analyte in the sample using a chiroptical technique is/are determined. Based on any binding that occurs between the indicator and probe, the concentration of the analyte in the sample is determined using a non-chiroptical technique. |
