The purpose of the present invention is to provide a polymer that has excellent compatibility with a thermoplastic resin. The present invention is a polymer (B) which mainly contains units that are represented by formulas (1), (2), and (3), wherein the number of moles of the unit (1) is 0-95 moles, the number of moles of the unit (2) is 0-50 moles, and the number of moles of the unit (3) is 2-80 moles, where the total number of moles of the units (1), (2), and (3) is 100 moles.n(1)n(2)n(3)n(In the units (1)-(3), X is a repeating unit that has a benzene ring. In the unit (2), -CH 3 is a methyl group that substitutes a hydrogen atom of a benzene ring of X, and m is an integer of 1-6 that represents the number of substitutions.
