abstract The present invention provides: a separator for constituting a nonaqueous electrolyte battery which has excellent safety and excellent reliability in terms of internal short circuit, while being able to be suppressed in deterioration of the characteristics at high temperatures; a method for producing this separator; a nonaqueous electrolyte battery which comprises this separator; and a method for producing this nonaqueous electrolyte battery. A separator for nonaqueous electrolyte batteries according to the present invention is characterized in that: the separator comprises an inorganic particle layer that contains inorganic particles and a binder; the inorganic particle layer contains an amine compound (a) that is represented by general formula (1); the content of the binder in the inorganic particle layer is 2% by mass or more; and the content of the amine compound (a) is from 0.5% by mass to 7% by mass. (In the formula, R1 represents –H or –CxH2xNH2 (wherein x represents an integer from 2 to 6); R2 represents –CyH2y- (wherein y represents an integer from 2 to 6); m represents an integer from 1 to 6; and in cases where m is 2 or more, the R1 moieties may be different from each other.)
