titleOfInvention Process for producing adhesive tapes or moulding compounds
abstract The invention relates to the use of a polymerizable composition comprising cationically polymerizable monomers, at least one cationic polymerization initiator and optionally one or more additives, as an adhesive in a process for producing an adhesive tape or as moulding compound in a process for producing mouldings, wherein the polymerizable composition comprises A) a cationic thermal initiator or B) a combination of a cationic photoinitiator and a free-radical thermal initiator for triggering the polymerization of the cationically polymerizable monomers, in such an amount that the amount of heat released in the polymerization is sufficient to bring about cleavage of the thermal initiator, wherein i) the adhesive is curable via frontal polymerization by means of a local pulse a) of thermal energy or b) of thermal energy and/or radiative energy; or ii) the moulding compound is first produced by mixing all the components encompassed therein and then converting into the desired shape, and then, by means of a local pulse a) of thermal energy or b) of thermal energy and/or radiative energy, frontal polymerization thereof is triggered in order to produce a cured moulding; and to adhesive tapes or mouldings produced in this way.
