In order to provide a composition for the oral cavity that exhibits a rapid antibacterial action, an antibacterial composition for the oral cavity is used that contains an A component: at least one selected from the group consisting of protamine, protamine degradation products and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and a B component: a phenolic antibacterial agent. In particular, the B component is 3-methyl-4-isopropylphenol and the target bacteria is S. mutans and/or S. gordonii. The mass ratio between the A component and B component is in the range of 30-100,000:1,000. In particular, an antibacterial action is exhibited for a contact time of 5 seconds to 10 minutes. |
