abstract | A preparation method for 2-4 μm battery grade tricobalt tetroxide. The method comprises the following steps: 1) adding a cobalt salt solution and a liquid alkali in parallel flow into a reactor containing a base solution and charged with air, controlling the pH value of a system by adjusting the flow rate of the liquid alkali and performing a coprecipitation reaction at a certain stirring rate, after the reaction solution starts to overflow, decreasing the pH value of the reaction system by 0.1 and increasing the flow rate of the cobalt salt by 20 L/h every hour until the pH value of the reaction system decreases to 9.5 and the flow rate of the cobalt salt increases to 340 L/h, and continuously monitoring the particle size, so as to obtain a cobalt oxyhydroxide slurry; 2) ageing and drying the cobalt oxyhydroxide slurry in sequence, so as to obtain a dried cobalt oxyhydroxide; and 3) calcining the dried cobalt oxyhydroxide, so as to obtain a battery grade cobalt tetroxide. By using the described method, the obtained tap density of the obtained battery grade tricobalt tetroxide can be far higher than that of the tricobalt tetroxide having the same particle size prepared in the prior art. |
