titleOfInvention Communication method and apparatus
abstract Disclosed in the present application are a communication method and apparatus. The method comprises: a terminal device receives first information from a network device, the first information being used to instruct the terminal device to acquire multicast configuration information by means of a system message, and the multicast configuration information being used to instruct the terminal device to receive a multicast service; and then receiving the system message from the network device, the system message comprising the multicast configuration information. By using the described solution, in one aspect, a terminal device can receive a multicast service without entering a connected state, which can effectively reduce the signaling overhead required for the establishment of RRC connection between the terminal device and a network device, and also reduce the delay in the terminal device acquiring a multicast configuration; in another aspect, since a network device can send multicast configuration information by means of a system message, the processing burden and signaling overhead of the network device are effectively reduced compared with sending multicast configuration information to the terminal device respectively by means of unicast, and the flexibility of network device regulation and control is also increased.
