abstract |
It is provided a method of producing a polymer emulsion composition comprising the steps of dispersing cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) in water producing a CNCs aqueous suspension; dissolving a cationic initiator in the CNCs aqueous suspension producing a mixture of CNCs-initiator; heating the mixture of CNCs- initiator; incorporating a monomer in the heated mixture of CNCs-initiator; and polymerizing the monomer producing a polymer emulsion comprising CNC nanoparticles embedded in nanocomposite particles, wherein CNC nanoparticles are uniformly distributed inside the nanocomposite particles, producing a surfactant-free emulsion polymerization system comprising CNC nanoparticles uniformly distributed inside the nanocomposite particles. |
