abstract |
The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising an indirubin derivative as an active ingredient for prevention or treatment of sarcopenia or muscle atrophy and a method for treatment of sarcopenia or muscle atrophy by using same. The present invention relates to a novel use of an indirubin derivative in treating sarcopenia or muscle atrophy. The pharmaceutical composition provided by the present invention can be advantageously used for effectively preventing or treating sarcopenia or muscle atrophy through the increase of myotube diameters, the suppression of myotube atrophy, the maintenance of ratios of myotubes by diameter, and the expression downregulation of gene atrogine-1, which destroys muscle proteins. |
