Energy manifold for directing and concentrating energy within a lithoplasty device |
abstract |
A catheter system (100) for treating a vascular lesion (106A) within or adjacent to a vessel wall (108A) within a body (107) of a patient (109) includes a catheter fluid (132), an energy source (124) that generates energy, an energy guide (122A) and an energy manifold (129). The energy guide (122A) includes a guide distal end (122D) that is selectively positioned near the vascular lesion (106A). The energy guide (122A) is configured to receive energy from the energy source (124) and generate a plasma bubble (134) within the catheter fluid (132). The energy manifold (129) is coupled to the energy guide (122A) near the guide distal end (122D). The energy manifold (129) includes (i) a manifold body (260) that defines a body chamber (266), the body chamber (266) being configured to retain at least some of the catheter fluid (132), and (ii) a manifold aperture (262) that extends through the manifold body (260). The energy manifold (129) directs energy from the plasma bubble (134) out of the body chamber (266) through the manifold aperture (262) and toward the vascular lesion (106A). |
