abstract The invention relates to a method and an appliance (1) for changing a cell region (Z) at or below the body surface or the hairs of a human or animal body (K), by producing local hyperthermia in this cell region (Z), designed with at least one device (2) which can be arranged or can be secured on the body surface for producing thermal energy, preferably designed with an electrode (7) and a control unit (3), wherein the at least one device (2) for producing thermal energy has a contact region (4) for changing a cell structure in the cell region (Z), wherein a sensor (5) is provided which is designed to determine the local temperature (TL) or a local temperature change of the cell region (Z) of the body (K) to be changed, wherein the control unit (3) is designed to produce a specific temperature profile by means of the electrode (7) or of the thermal contact region (4), specifically to obtain a temperature (Tz) and/or the temperature change (ΔΤz) and/or a temperature profile (TPz) of the cell region (Z).
