abstract The invention relates to a device (10) for monitoring the hygiene state in the oral cavity of a user, said device being provided with a support matrix (10b) and a pH sensor unit (10a) integrated into the support matrix (10b). The support matrix (10b) has a first face (10f) with a first outer surface (10d), and the first outer surface (10d) is designed to be fixed to a tooth (12) of the user. The device (10) additionally has a second face (10g) with a second outer surface (10e). The second outer surface (10e) is designed to contact saliva located in the oral cavity. The pH sensor unit (10a) has a sensor surface (10c), and the sensor unit (10a) is arranged within the support matrix (10b) such that the sensor surface (10c) of the sensor unit (10a) is in contact with the saliva.
