Provided are: a nematic liquid crystal composition which in a liquid crystal material that enables greater phase control for microwave or millimeterwave electromagnetic waves, has a wide nematic liquid crystal temperature range, is stable at room temperature, and has a high refractive index anisotropy Δn; and a liquid crystal element, a sensor, a liquid crystal lens, an optical communication device, or an antenna using the same. Specifically, the liquid crystal composition is characterized by containing one type or two types of compounds represented by general formula (i), and one type or two types of compounds represented by general formula (ii). |
