titleOfInvention Carbonaceous unshaped refractory
abstract The present invention provides a carbonaceous unshaped refractory that presents no problems in terms of safety and hygiene, imposes a relatively low burden on the global environment, and has sufficient function and features during furnace installation and operation. This carbonaceous unshaped refractory is configured from a mixture of a natural carbon material and an edible aqueous binder solution, and is such that the total amount of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons is 100 ppm or less. The natural carbon material is preferably obtained by mixing one or more from among anthracite, calcined anthracite, and natural graphite. The edible aqueous binder solution is preferably obtained by mixing one or more from among water-soluble polysaccharides and synthetic thickeners, and preferably is a viscous material having a viscosity of 500-20,000 cp at 20°C.
