This image recording method involves: a step for preparing at least two ink compositions, including a first ink composition which contains a polymerizable liquid crystal compound, a chiral compound, a polymerization initiator and an organic solvent, and a second ink composition which contains a polymerizable liquid crystal compound, a chiral compound, a polymerization initiator and an organic solvent; a step for applying the first ink composition on a substrate by means of inkjet recording; a step for irradiating active energy rays onto the first ink composition applied to the substrate to form a first ink film; a step for applying the second ink composition on the first ink film by means of inkjet recording; and a step for irradiating active energy rays onto the second ink composition applied to the first ink film to form a second ink film, wherein the hexadecane contact angle on the first ink film is less than or equal to 45°. |
