abstract | Method and device for use in discriminating an individual between mild cognitive impairment, MCI, impaired and non-MCI impaired, comprising an electronic data processor configured for generating an index indicative of mild cognitive impairment, MCI, impairment in an individual, by carrying out the method steps of: acquiring result scores from a computer-based cognitive test administered multiple times over a period of time to said individual, in which a higher score represents a higher cognitive result; estimating a smoothed function of said scores over the period of time; calculating a first value equal to the value of said smoothed function at the beginning of said period of time; calculating a second value equal to the slope of said smoothed function between the beginning of said period of time and a predetermined cut-point in time; calculating a third value equal to the slope of said smoothed function between the predetermined cut-point in time and the end of said period of time; multiplying each said calculated value by a respective first, second, and third predetermined weighting coefficient to obtain a weighted product; summing said products to obtain an index which is indicative of a degree of presence of MCI; detecting if said index is above or below a predetermined threshold. |
