titleOfInvention | Inertial microfluidic device and method of separating particles in a fluid sample based on particle size using inertial microfluidic device |
abstract | There is provided an inertial microfluidic device including a substrate; a channel provided in the substrate, the channel being configured to have a serpentine shape; one or more inlets provided on the substrate and coupled to an input portion of the channel, at least one of the one or more inlets being configured to receive an input fluid sample comprising particles of different sizes; and a plurality of outlets provided on the substrate and coupled to an output portion of the channel, the plurality of outlets including a first outlet and a second outlet being configured to output a first output fluid sample and a second output fluid sample, respectively, from the input fluid sample flowing through the channel. In particular, the channel includes a plurality of contraction portions located along the channel, each contraction portion being configured to narrow a width of the channel at a corresponding location thereof. There is also provided a method of manufacturing the inertial microfluidic device, and a method separating particles in a fluid sample based on particle size using the inertial microfluidic device. |
